Jane Johnson joined Gelbergs in June 2011 in the then newly formed Employment Team, having qualified in September 2010 from a well-known Manchester firm. In September 2017 she was promoted to Partner.
She has experience advising on a wide variety of matters for both employers and employees, including unfair dismissal, discrimination, redundancy, and handling disciplinaries and dismissals. Jane also deals with day-to-day employment issues, drafting contracts, handbooks and settlement agreements.
Jane has a good relationship with clients due to her down-to-earth and professional nature. She has had much success negotiating settlements for clients, particularly those related to discrimination and sexual harassment.
Her particular interests are start-ups, discrimination, and the effect social media can have on a business, in light of new and emerging law.
Jane has a real penchant for marketing and gets involved in writing blogs and articles, as well as preparing and running interactive workshops and networking events on various topics for business-owners and HR professionals. She also advises at pro-bono clinics for start-up businesses.
Jane is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
